Just to let all of you know the exciting news Linda Wieck’s Camo Quilt Project won the Make a Difference Day contest held on Oct. 23rd.  They were one of the top 10 in the nation.  She traveled to Washington DC to receive a $10,000 grant at a luncheon there on April 14th.  There was a nice article in the USA Weekend magazine which is a supplement to the Sheboygan Press on Sunday,  April 10th.  She will also fly to Nashville for a photo shoot with Darius Rucker on March 4th.  In case you don't know who he is, he was the lead singer for Hooty and the Blowfish. ØAAt-risk Baby Quilt       The Samaritan Hospital is looking for more nesters.   They are two pieces of flannel 15"x15" sewn together with no batting.  They are to keep the head warm and off the sheets, easy to wash instead of changing all the bedding.  Thanks

Helping Nicaragua Sewing Centers

A special thank you to all who donated items to the Nicaraguan sewing centers. There was a total of 33 sewing machines that were sent. Fabric, notions, and machines make a difference in the lives of these ladies. Please take a moment and check this web site: www.chicanica.org.   Perhaps you can identify items you donated. The doll clothes fit the 18 inch doll (American Girl dolls). Money made from the purchases of these dresses help support the families and homes of the Nicaraguan women. Please note that, Linda Bessler Pracht is a native of Kiel and organizes this project. She continues to visit several times a year to set up more sewing centers.

Next shipment of items will be collected in March 2011, if you would like to donate. Sewing machines are accepted in working and non-working order. Linda has taught Nicaraguan people to be technicians.

Payment would include the cost of the additional day plus  splitting the cost of the sewing room among all interested. Check area on registration form if you are interested.  A deposit of $50.00 is required.

Single :  $95.00 + sewing room cost

Double: $85.00 + sewing room cost

§  All fees are transferable only. No refunds will be given. Retreat fees may change if we are notified of increase by Cedar Valley.
§  Deposits are due at the time you sign –up for the retreat.
§  Above costs include, meals, linens, towels and rooms for overnight participants.
§  Arrival time 12 noon on Thursday for people who choose to come on the extra date. For people coming on Friday  - you can come when you choose. Departure at 2:30 PM on Sunday.
